Chemistry Department Alumni Chun-Ta Huang and Chien-Chung Chang: The Perfect Research Partners

At the intersection of technology and innovation, those who seize opportunities can make great strides forward. Two exemplary figures embodying this spirit are Chun-Ta Huang, General Manager of Joxin Technology and alumnus of the Department of Chemistry at Tamkang University, and Chien-Chung Chang, Distinguished Chair Professor at the Graduate Institute of Biomedical Engineering, National Chung Hsing University.

Reflecting on his academic journey in the Department of Chemistry, Huang remarked, “Even a dim past can lead to a brilliant future.”

From collaborating as students to years of dedicated innovation, their partnership has earned numerous accolades, including the 19th National Innovation Award and the 20th National Excellence Award. In 2023, at the Taiwan Innotech Expo hosted by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, their “3D Plasma Hotspot Signal Enhancement Chip” won the highest honors: the Platinum Invention Award and the Future Technology Award.

In 2024, their debut at the Singapore International Invention Exhibition with the “Comprehensive SER Detection Platform (CSDP) for Biomedical and Food Safety Applications” earned them a gold medal. This year (2025), at the Nano Tech Expo in Tokyo, Japan, they showcased a jointly developed rapid detection platform capable of identifying viruses, microbes, bilirubin, and glycochromic pigments. The system can detect Sudan Red in commercial pepper powder and spices, as well as 20 types of pesticides, all within five minutes—paving the way for international collaboration.
